In 1988, Dr. Doug McLachlan had a burden to see men further equipped for ministry after they completed their college training. Working closely with Dr. Les Ollila and Northland's Bible Department, Dr. McLachlan began the Master of Ministry and Doctor of Sacred Ministry program to help pastors sharpen their ministry tools.
Offered twice a year, these one-week classes continue to offer men in ministry a chance to study relevant issues facing them today. Later, the Master of Arts degrees were instituted as resident programs for graduate students who want to further expand their practical and theological knowledge and/or prepare for seminary.
